Apprentice & JATC Procedures During COVID-19

GENERAL INFORMATION

We realize that many of you may have questions about Electrical JATC of Southern Nevada as the COVID19 virus expands in reach and intensity. Every day, we closely monitor and analyze developments and statements from local, national and international health agencies, and we are taking actions to comply with their directives, which are based on facts and medical science. We will be updating this post if needed.

There is no issue more important to us than making sure we manage this situation as effectively as possible.

The Electrical JATC of Southern Nevada Office is open 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday – Friday except for holidays. All individuals must were a mask and 6 feet of social distancing from others in the office and classrooms.

APPRENTICE DISPATCH

We will be implementing new procedures during the mandate. If an apprentice is laid off, please email the RIF slip to amanda@earnwhileyoulearn.org & 357referral@ibew357.org. Once the Electrical JATC of Southern Nevada receives the RIF slip, the apprentice will placed on the out-of-work book. Once a call comes available, the apprentice will received an email with further direction on the dispatch procedures.

APPRENTICES NOTIFICATION OF WORK CALL-IN, APPRENTICES TIMECARDS, APPRENTICES VA BENEFITS & APPRENTICES EVALUATIONS

Apprentices, please leaving a message on the office general voice mail.

Apprentices must submit their monthly timecards online at ejatc.org or at the JATC Office. Notices of missing timecards will be emailed to the apprentices.

Apprentices receiving VA Benefits, please submit one paycheck stub per month to jeanette@earnwhileyoulearn.org. If you have any questions or concerns, please email jeanette@earnwhileyoulearn.org.

Contractors, we will be sending apprentice evaluations via email. Please submit the apprentice evaluations to jeanette@earnwhileyoulearn.org. Our fax machine is not monitored at this time.

The health authorities tell us that to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, we must: wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds, heighten cleaning practices, must ensure that 6 feet of social distancing per person for non-family members in maintained, wear a mask out of the home, stay away from work when ill, and not travel to areas with high infection rates. All our actions are focused in these areas.

College of Southern Nevada/ACE Credits

College of Southern Nevada Credits

As you all are aware, you have been earning college credits for successful completion of each year of your apprenticeship through the College of Southern Nevada. Those who have complete the five (5) year wireman program have two options with the College of Southern Nevada:  Associate of Applied Science Degree with Inside Wireman Emphasis (60-63 credits) or a Certificate of Achievement with Inside Wireman Emphasis (43 Credits).  As an Installer/ Tech Apprentice in the three (3) year program, you are eligible to qualify for a Certificate of Achievement with Installer/Technician Emphasis. In order to receive your Associate Degree in Applied Science—Trade Union Electrical Apprentice, or a Certificate of Achievement— Trade Union Electrical Apprentice, you must meet the additional credit requirements as set forth by the College of Southern Nevada.  The JATC office staff has detailed credit summaries for those of you who are interested.  Please contact College of Southern Nevada’s Office of Apprenticeship Studies at (702) 651-4163 for further information.

A.C.E. Credits through electrical training ALLIANCE

The American Council on Education (ACE) offers college credits based on the electrical training ALLIANCE curriculum you each will have completed by graduation.  In order to receive these credits, an application must be completed by you (the apprentice) and signed by members of the Committee.  Each application must also be accompanied by a check or money order in the amount of $45.00 made out to the electrical training ALLIANCE.  Your ACE credit summary will be mailed to your home.
